There are a large number of industries and plants that require some source of steam or heat for certain operations. This is where thermic fluid heater comes in use. Thermic fluid heater is a device very similar to steam boilers. The difference being that in regular steam boilers, steam is generated directly through heating up the water contained in the vessel by combustion of common fuels such as fossil fuel and timber. On the other hand, in thermic fluid heater some other fluid, a thermic fluid, such as dowtherm, is heated and passed through tubes submerged in water. This heated fluid then heats the water in the vessel, thus producing steam. However, thermic fluid heater manufacturers produce heaters that are used for just heating up the water as well and not to turn it to steam.
Thermic fluid heaters are used in a large variety of industries such as agriculture, pharmaceuticals, metallurgy, distilleries, dairy, refinery, railway, plastic, textile, sugar, tyre industry, among many more. Technology is advancing at such a high pace and machines are taking over more and more of man’s work. Technology has been developed which allows the boiler to function automatically. A recent technology known as Programmable Logic Controller or PLC determines the physical parameters associated with the boilers and uses it to calculate when the boiler is to be started and shut down. However boiler automation using PLC is not perfect and definitely not functions better than man-operated thermic fluid heaters/boilers as lacks functions of microcontrollers.

Automation of devices, easy handling and optimization of products are some of the most important things which stand to be of utmost importance especially while using boilers. The boiler automation using plc reflects the nature of a boiler, and it is highly useful in industries which require steam energy immensely.
PLC uses KGL Master K-series software. The complete logic of operation of the boiler is designed using software. It is then downloaded into PLC by capturing space in CPU memory. Certain physical parameters are also used which includes putting check on water levels, temperature and pressure. The outputs in PLC are accepted from four sensors all of which have been mentioned below;
How PLC helps in compilation of the project? The complete boiler project requires use of PLC kit which is held responsible for collection of data from field sensors, evaluate them and then generate appropriate output from the same. These testing methods are used to verify functionality of a boiler, and also to find out if they are appropriate to an industry. Projects can be divided into different components i.e. boiling container, sensors, heater assembler that is quite useful for creation of effective boiler system. The functionality and usefulness of PLC are some of the basic reasons it is opted for while making boilers. A steam boiler is a steam generating unit that generates steam by burning fuels such as timber, coal and fossil fuel. Applications of such a machine can be easily observed in various industries viz cement production, textiles, sugar, etc. It is also used in running turbines and locomotives as well as cranes and mines. Steam boilers are used in agricultural sector for soil steam sterilization to sterilize soil with application of steam produced; mushroom cultivation and wineries for sterilization.
In India steam boilers need to be manufactured in accordance with Indian Boiler Regulation Act (IBR), 1950. Indian Boiler Regulations originated after a tragic boiler Explosion in Calcutta back in 1863 in order to avoid such accidents in future. IBR steam boiler is any boiler whose vessel has a capacity not less than twenty-five litres and the steam produced is more than one Kilogramme Per Centimetre Square else it is a Non-IBR steam boiler. A steam boiler needs to be approved by the inspecting authority in order to be certified as an IBR Steam boiler. Thermic Fluid heater is also used to produce steam and sometimes to just heat water; however it is different from regular steam boilers. In thermic fluid heater a thermic fluid such as dowtherm is heated to produce heat energy as against water being heated in regular boilers. The fluid runs through pipes sunken under water. Thermic fluid heater manufacturers use thermal oil, glycol or water as common heat mediums. |
